Aluminium Framed Insulated Steel Garage Door

A steel leaf with foam-injected insulated panels.

INSULATED STEEL GARAGE DOOR

Steel outside, foam inside

The insulated steel garage door is built around a steel leaf with foam-injected panels. The outer face is steel, so the front takes the rigidity and the outdoor behaviour of that material, and the panels are filled with foam rather than left as an empty cavity. That build suits a garage that is used as a room, a workshop or a store that should hold its temperature better than a plain single-skin leaf. The leaf is set out as a panelled face, and the door is built to the opening from the section set.

The pictures on this page are catalogue design renderings. They show the panelled leaf; the section drawings carry the member sizes.

Key features

Four things it brings to the opening

01Steel leafThe face is built from a steel leaf, so the front takes the rigidity and the outdoor behaviour of steel.
02Foam-injected panelsThe panels are foam filled, so the leaf carries an insulated core rather than an empty cavity.
03Panelled faceThe leaf is laid out as a set of panels, so the front reads as a framed surface rather than one sheet.
04Aluminium trimThe frame edges and trim use 6063-T5 primary aluminium, extruded in-house on the window and door ranges.

Configurations

Three ways to build the opening

Panelled faceThe leaf is set out with panels across the full width.
Insulated coreThe panels are foam injected, so the leaf carries an insulated core.
Panel splitThe panel split is set from the opening, with trim details quoted per project.

Injected core

Foam injection fills the panel cavity, so the leaf is a sandwich rather than a hollow shell. A filled panel adds stiffness at the same time as it insulates, because the core carries load between the two faces and the leaf resists flexing across the span. That is why an insulated leaf stays flat and quiet in use: the core holds the skin in line and takes the drum out of a wide panel. The panel layout follows the opening size, so the framed face lines up across the full width of the door.

Build and finish

The steel leaf and injected panels form the face, and the frame edges and trim use 6063-T5 primary aluminium, extruded in-house on the same lines as the window and door ranges. The sectional build runs on the standard sectional set, and the leaf lifts and stows above the opening in the usual way. The trim can be finished to match the leaf or to set it off, and the exact finish is confirmed with the project rather than drawn from a fixed list.

OEM and project supply

Insulated steel doors go out on the standard OEM terms: private-label packing, project documentation and export-standard containers. The leaf is built to the opening, so a bespoke panel split or trim detail can be quoted from a drawing. Send the opening size, the panel layout you want and the destination market. The reply sets out the panel split and the trim details, and the injected core is set in our own shop so the panels arrive filled and flat rather than hollow. A leaf section and a trim sample are available before the order is placed, and the trim finish is matched to a physical swatch. A filled leaf also keeps the face flat across a wide opening. The panel split is kept on file, which keeps a run of doors on one site consistent and lets a later order match the first.

FAQ

Asked on every garage door project

What is the leaf made of?

The face is a steel leaf set out as a panelled front, with the frame edges and trim in 6063-T5 primary aluminium.

What does foam-injected mean?

The panel cavities are foam filled, so the leaf carries an insulated core rather than an empty cavity.

Does a filled panel stay flat?

Yes. The injected core carries load between the two faces, so a wide panel resists flexing and stays in line.

Is the insulated leaf a sectional door?

Yes. It runs on the standard sectional set and stows above the opening.

Can the insulated panel split be changed?

Yes. The panel split is set from the opening and quoted from a drawing.

Is the insulated steel door supplied under OEM terms?

Yes. This line handles private-label packing, project documentation and export packing to the container standard.
