Aluminium Glass Panel Garage Door

Tempered glass panel sections that bring daylight through the garage door.

ALUMINIUM GLASS PANEL GARAGE DOOR

Daylight through the door

The glass panel garage door is built from tempered glass panel sections, so light passes through the leaf instead of stopping at a solid face. A garage with this front stays bright inside during the day without extra windows in the wall, which helps a workshop or a showroom space where the door is the largest surface on the elevation. The glazed sections are set into the panel frames from the section set, and the layout is drawn to the opening rather than trimmed on site.

Scenes on this page are catalogue design renderings. They show the glazing rhythm; the section drawings carry the member sizes.

Tempered glass panels

The glass in the panel sections is tempered, so the panels take the handling and the thermal movement of an outdoor leaf. Tempered glass is used because it holds together under impact rather than breaking into long shards, which is what a door facing a driveway and a street needs. The glazed sections sit in aluminium frames that grip each panel evenly, so the face stays square and the glass does not carry the load on its own.

Vision sections and layout

The light-through build, often called vision sections, places glass panels at set points in the face. A project can run glass across the whole leaf for a fully glazed front, or mix glazed and solid sections so part of the face stays closed. The number and position of the glazed sections are set from the opening, so a wide door can carry more lights and a narrow one fewer, without changing the panel system. The panel frames and stiles are 6063-T5 primary aluminium, extruded in-house on the same lines as the window and door ranges.

OEM and project supply

Glass panel doors follow the standard OEM terms: private-label packing, project documentation and export-standard containers. The frames and the glazing layout both come off our own line and section set, so a bespoke mix of glazed and solid panels can be quoted from a drawing. Send the opening size, the glazing layout you want and the destination market. The reply sets the number and position of the glazed sections, so the frames line up across the leaf, and the packed panels protect the glass in transit. A frame and glazing bead sample is available before commit. The glazed sections are set out from the opening, so a wide door and a narrow one stay on the same system. Because the glazing split is kept on file, a service or a replacement door can be reordered against the original enquiry, and a later order on the same site can match the first without a fresh survey.

FAQ

Asked on every garage door project

What glass is used in the panels?

The panel sections use tempered glass, set into aluminium frames that hold each panel evenly.

Can only part of the face be glazed?

Yes. Glazed and solid panels can be mixed, so part of the leaf stays closed while the rest lets light through.

What does vision section mean?

It is a light-through build: glass panels are placed at set points in the face so daylight passes through the door.

Is the glazing layout fixed?

No. The number and position of glazed sections are set from the opening and quoted per project.

What frame is used?

The panel frames and stiles are 6063-T5 primary aluminium, extruded in-house.

Can the glass panel door be supplied OEM?

Yes. Private-label packing, project documentation and export container packing go with every glass panel order.
