Aluminium Windows and Doors for Vietnam: The North-South Climate Split
Vietnam is three climates in one market. Hanoi and the north take a cool, damp winter; the central coast runs into the typhoon season each autumn; Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong stay hot and humid all year. One range has to answer all three, and the specification usually shifts by region. Adam Alux Systems has built aluminium windows and doors since 1997 at three bases in China, and quotes Vietnamese projects from the opening list.

VIETNAM · COURTYARD FRONTAGE
Three climate zones, three specifications
A northern build faces a cool season with high humidity, so the glass question there is condensation and the frame gains from a thermal break. The central coast faces wind-driven rain through the typhoon months, which puts the weight on the seal, the fixing and the sash size. The south stays hot, so the load is solar gain and the answer is the insulating unit.
A specification written for one region travels badly to another. The same 110 casement window can carry a wider cavity in the south and a different fixing detail on the central coast.
Series for Vietnamese openings
The 50 casement window covers apartments and townhouses: 50 mm frame, 1.2 mm wall, 5-20 A-5 glass and a high-transparency screen as standard. The 110 casement window steps up to five chambers and a 1.4 mm wall for taller lights and exposed elevations.
Wide horizontal openings take the 95 sliding window on 2 or 3 tracks with ball-bearing rollers. Balcony and terrace fronts go to the 35x16 narrow-frame sliding door, which keeps the sightline thin across a full-height opening.
Glass under tropical sun and northern damp
Every window series leaves the factory on a 5-20 A-5 insulating unit, with single or triple builds to order. In the south the cavity cuts the solar load that drives the air-conditioning. In the north it keeps the room-side pane above the dew point through the damp season, which is where mould on glass usually starts.
Clear, frosted, reeded, fluted and coated options are available, and door leaves carry automotive-grade tempered glass. The build-up is confirmed per project at quotation.
Salt spray and the seal
The central coast and the river mouths put salt in the air, and the finish takes it first. Fluorocarbon holds edge coverage longest; anodised and thermal transfer are the other two lines, with RAL matching and two-tone faces on request. Stainless-steel rails run on the heavy sliding doors, and the casement range carries multi-point locking with a keyed handle as standard.
The seal works with the drainage rather than against it: an open self-draining sill path and EPDM foam gaskets across the rebate.
Sending a Vietnamese enquiry
Four inputs get a Vietnamese order moving: opening sizes, quantity per size, arrival port and the region the project sits in. Ho Chi Minh City takes the Cai Mep-Thi Vai terminals; Hai Phong covers the north. Every quotation includes a dimensional pack on PDF, CAD on request, and a sample profile set or a finished test unit can be sent ahead of the order.
FAQ
Frequently asked
Which certificate comes with a Vietnamese order?
CE to EN 14351-1, no. M.2024.206.C101817, issued by UDEM. That is the whole list: no Vietnamese approval of any kind. Vietnamese projects that name a local requirement are handled at quotation, where the glazing build-up, the profile and the fixing are confirmed against the drawings before the order goes into production.
Does the north need a thermal break?
It helps through the cool damp season. A polyamide thermal break holds the interior face of the frame nearer room temperature, which keeps condensation off the profile when indoor humidity is high and the outside is cool. The 110 casement window runs five chambers on a 1.4 mm wall with 5-20 A-5 glass; the 118 goes further with six chambers and a 5-27 A-5 unit.
Which glazing suits the south?
5-20 A-5 insulating glass is the standard build and covers most southern work, since the cavity slows the solar gain that drives the cooling load. A coated or tinted outer pane can be added where a facade takes direct afternoon sun. Single and triple builds are available on request, and the choice is confirmed at quotation.
How is the finish protected against salt?
Fluorocarbon is the finish for the central coast and the river mouths, since salt reaches coating edges and cut ends first. The other two lines, anodised and thermal transfer, take the same RAL matching and two-tone faces on request. Physical swatches go out before the order so the colour is checked under local light.
What holds the weather out during the typhoon months?
The seal and the drainage. EPDM foam gaskets run across the sash rebate, and the sill drains through an open self-draining path so water that gets past the outer line leaves the profile. Sash size and fixing are set against the wind exposure of the site and confirmed at quotation, since the central coast carries more of that load than the south.
